If you've overheard someone talking about finding happiness through The Law of Attraction, you probably wondered if it was one of the latest articles in "Cosmopolitan." Actually, what we're talking about here are not just clever games you play to get a someone’s attention. It’s bigger than that – AND can get you that relationship.

What is the famous Law of Attraction?

According to "The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham" by Esther and Jerry Hicks: "The Essence of that which is like unto itself, is drawn. You are a creator. You create with every thought."

In essence, our brains are all tapping into the same connections. The thoughts you have right now are already attracting other people and situations with similar thoughts as yours.  To change your life, you have to decide what you want and focus on the feeling of it;  think positively about what you want to attract - not the lack.


Sounds easy, right? At the same time, it's a very profound message with vast implications.


By conditioning our minds to attract what we really want, we're changing our vibrations. Our physical reality can quickly reflect back to us the vibrations that we've put out in the universe.


However, it's easier to think of some things you really don't want to attract. You'd rather repel things like rapid weight gain for example. That's why you've got to dig into the science behind the Law of Attraction to understand how it works so that you can learn to turn the muck in your life into something better - all by finding a better perspective and feeling good!


Scientific evidence supporting The Law of Attraction

The Huffington Post highlighted some of the strongest scientific support that validates The Law of Attraction. As you might have heard, the details and theories explaining how this law works appeared in:

  • Deepak Chopra's interviews and writings
  • Wayne Dyer's commentaries
  • Books including "Ask and It is Givenand Power of Intention
  • The famous movie "The Secret," which has many references to how quantum physics supports The Law of Attraction

Even with all the research of these authors aside, now we're learning about what scientists call “mirror neurons” in the brain. Whatever or whomever we observe; our brains will fire in a similar way as the object we're observing. If you focus on an extremely fearful person, you'll also start feeling fear and anxiety, for example. It doesn't have anything to do with any other reason than our instinctive ability to feel the strong emotions of others just by looking at them. In this way, someone with an anxiety disorder will "attract" other anxious people to them simply because they'll make everyone around them feel anxious too.

Similarly, scientists discovered that if you focus on pain, you can make that feeling worse. If you focus on something else, you'll decrease the pain. Therefore, you'll definitely experience more of whatever you choose to focus on the most.


10 practical tips for using The Law of Attraction in your life

  1. Because you will become and attract whatever you think about most, write what you want in a journal or carry photos on your phone that focuses you on your desire. Whenever you start worrying about a topic that doesn’t feel good; take a minute to stop and feel the juiciness of your goal. Ask yourself “How much fun will it be when I….” or “Wouldn’t it be great if something better showed up?”

  2. Today feel the anticipation of what you want the most. That means if you want an amazing partner, then start making space in your place for their stuff! Get rid of what you don't need anymore. It doesn't matter if you haven't met him/her yet; the universe receives your intentions the moment you feel the desire.  Once you take inspired action, things move quickly!

  3. If you want to feel happier, then you need to retrain your mind to think happy thoughts!  Whatever you choose to think about the most is what controls your mood. Keep a list of things in life that you appreciate in a journal and pull it out to read when you feel your mood slipping.  Or write an affirmation to say and change your thought.

  4. You won't receive more abundance if you can’t appreciate something about your life in the present moment. Maybe its the faceted crystal hanging in your window throwing rainbows around the room - it doesn’t have to be big.  Negative emotions will block gifts coming to you – so find another feeling! It's good to identify what you don't want, but you must work on converting those thoughts into identifying what you do want. For example, convert, "I hate my job," into a positive statement like, "I am creating the work I love." Then feel and envision the position you desire.  As you start looking for places to work, you'll know you've hit your dream job by how excited you'll feel when you find it.

  5. Start removing the words, "I don't have enough time or money" from your vocabulary. Those thoughts attract more circumstances of lacking or scarcity. Instead, go more general and ask yourself, “How could I allow things to change for me?”  Revel in the possibilities. Keep yourself in general statements if a topic is too stressful or change your thoughts to another topic where you do not feel as much resistance.  The objective is to change your feeling and thought in the moment so you can feel better.  Once you feel better, longer, more often, you start to attract better circumstances.

  6. Choose to be happy.  Repeat to yourself every day, "I am happy...I am joyful...I am love." and find the feeling. You have to create the joy within yourself to experience it.

  7. Before going to bed, sit and reflect on what happened today. If something didn't go well, replay that scenario again in your head the way you would have liked it to go. This re-imagining sends out higher frequencies to create a better day for yourself tomorrow.

  8. You can create whatever you really want for yourself, but you can't control the lives of others. You can't think about and attract things for them; only they can do that for themselves.

  9. Stop saying, "I can’t help it” or “I don’t know." You are a powerful creator – just look around you!  Own your life.  Start creating consciously.

  10. As Charles Haanel said, “Thought impregnated with love becomes invincible."
